Do you have an innovative story that deserves recognition? Submit your nomination for a chance to be featured in 2020.

2019 Winners

The Purpose-Driven Award:
Volkswagen Group of America

The Volkswagen team located at the Southeast Regional -Distribution Center in Tennessee had an urgent need for additional manpower to assist in repacking a part, which included a manual process of preparing and packing boxes.
For the project, the team partnered with the Michael Dunn Center, a local agency that helps people with disabilities find employment opportunities.

Excellence in Operations Award:
Toyota Motors North America

Toyota needed to evolve its custom legacy application for managing vendor- tooling capital projects.

SAP S/4 HANA project systems, asset management modules, and SAP Ariba were implemented to provide a seamless integration between the tooling capital projects for model launches and the asset life-cycle management.

This solution provides operational efficiency by managing part numbers throughout transaction processing and finally linking the tooling asset life to the product model.

Pioneer of the Year Award:
Urban Electric Networks Ltd

Urban Electric's mission is to create the U.K.'s largest urban electric-vehicle charging network. Its unique “pop-up” charging hubs retract fully underground when not in use, minimizing the impact on the streetscape and enabling drivers to charge their electric vehicles overnight outside their homes.

The first prototype was installed in Oxford, and the first images were published on Aug. 13, 2019. On the same day, a crowdfunding campaign began, raising more than $120,000.

Urban Electric has been funded by Innovate U.K. and was voted sixth in the 2018 European Cleantech Startups by Climate-KIC, the European Union’s climate innovation agency.
